Research Scientists at Google DeepMind lead our efforts in developing novel algorithmic architecture towards the end goal of solving and building Artificial General Intelligence.

As part of the Curio team, you will apply this mission to the critical challenge of AI personalization, such as:

Key responsibilities

  • Data: Designing new data creation strategies to teach models personalization. This involves generating high-quality synthetic examples of user context, and building scalable pipelines to curate and augment training sets.
  • Models: Improving quality of models for personalization and understanding user intent. This includes research to leverage complex user context (such as long context and user instructions), better techniques for personalized response generation, and improving alignment with individual user preferences. 
  • Evals: Better evaluation methods (human, auto raters) to measure the quality and effectiveness of personalization and open-ended questions. 

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, or Machine Learning related field.
  • Experience working with LLMs.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: personalization, recommender systems, user modeling, retrieval augmented generation, long context modeling, or natural language understanding.
  • A strong record of publications in top-tier machine-learning related conferences
  • Expertise in reinforcement learning
  • A real passion for AI!

Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $141,000 - $202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
